Shark Diving, Oceanworld Manly
If you want to see a lot of different shark species at a shark dive, Sydney has
the “Oceanworld Manly” aquarium.
Here you can do three different kinds of dives – depending on your diving experience:
- Introductory dive (for non-certified scuba divers)
- Tune-up dive (for certified scuba divers who have logged less than 15 dives or haven't
dived in the last 6 months)
- Certified dive (for certified scuba divers)
All shark dives commences with an Oceanarium tunnel tour where you are introduced
to the sharks from a distance. Then move into the shark dive classroom to for a
SCUBA, equipment and safety briefing.
Certified scuba divers will then get straight into the 4 million liter Oceanarium tank
for a 30 minutes shark dive with four different shark species.
Non-certified scuba divers will get an introduction to scuba diving and a short
pool skills session in the training pool. Here you'll learn how to breathe underwater
with personalized tuition from the scuba dive instructors.
Once the instructors see that you are comfortable with the scuba diving equipment
and in the water, then it's time to enter the main shark tank.
Tune-up scuba divers will also refresh their skills in the pool to ensure they are comfortable
in the water and know how to recover their regulator and clear their mask, before
they enter the shark tank.
After your dive you can freshen up with a hot shower. Then it is time to check out
the photographic evidence of your dive adventure (photos and videos are for sale).
