Shark Diving, Egypt
Egypt and the Red Sea are, with good reason, one of the most popular destinations
for diving and snorkeling.
And of course you can also dive with sharks in Egypt.
Actually there are few places in the world, where you can find such diversity of
shark species as could be found in the Red Sea.
There are a lot of different shark species to be seen in the Red Sea in Egypt.
Depending on the season some of the sharks you may be lucky enough to see are: Blacktip
Reef Sharks, Grey Reef Sharks, Oceanic Whitetip Sharks, Whitetip Sharks, Silky Sharks,
Scalloped Hammerhead Sharks and Great Hammerhead Sharks.
Even the Great White Shark has been seen on rare occasions – but you have to be
very (un)lucky to meet this dangerous shark.

Shark Diving in Egypt
Shark Diving, Sharm el Sheikh
Probably the best diving location in Egypt is the area around Sharm el Sheikh. Here
you can often snorkel from the shore. But if you want to see the sharks, you must
join a snorkel trip.
The destination for the snorkeling tours is the Ras Mohamed National Park about
30 kilometers from Sharm el Sheikh. Here there are many corals and exciting fish
– but the main attractions is the sharks.
Since the Red Sea is really just an extension of the Indian Ocean, most of the shark
species found in that tropical ocean can be found here too. And with the opening
of the Suez Canal the sharks of the Mediterranean (where the Great White Shark has
been seen) can also be found here.
So basically a very large variety of reef and pelagic shark species will be waiting
for you in the waters of Ras Mohamed. Some of the most seen shark species are the
Blacktip Reef Shark, the Oceanic Whitetip Shark and the Whitetip Reef Shark.

Snorkel with Sharks in Ras Mohamed, Egypt
There are many companies around Sharm el Sheikh doing snorkeling tours to Ras Mohamed
– but not all of them are good. One of the most reliable is the South Sinai Travel
who is doing the popular “Ras Mohamed Red Sea Cruise and Snorkeling”.
You will be picked up at your hotel in Sharm el Sheikh in the morning and be back
in the afternoon after a fantastic snorkeling experience at the Ras Mohamed National
Park.
